Beautiful Savior began in 1988 as a ‘mission plant’ on the west side of Green Bay by our Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). A handful of Christians gathered to form the new church and call its first pastor, Rev. Paul Thierfelter. Over the next few years God blessed the young mission church with many new members.
In 1995 the original building was constructed on the current site. Pastor Steve Witte served the growing congregation from 2001-2009. After Pastor Witte accepted the call to lead Asia Lutheran Seminary in Hong Kong, Pastor Jon Meyer was assigned to Beautiful Savior from our Seminary in 2010. As the congregation continued to grow, an expanded facility was needed. In 2014 the current worship area was added on, and in 2015 the original church was remodeled into the current Fellowship Hall, kitchen, multi-purpose rooms and additional office space.
When Pastor Meyer accepted God’s call to serve Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 2015, the congregation called Pastor Leon Ehlert to lead and serve God’s people.
